Fall Break in Croatia...? Yes Please!
Still thinking about a last minute trip before the craziness of the holidays begins? I have all kinds of ideas for you (and for myself!) but I've narrowed them down to just a few...a little outside the box of the most popular Fall destinations. Here you go!
This stunning Eastern European country sits on the Adriatic Sea, and has plenty to offer travelers looking for spectacular scenery or historical significance. The coastal city of Dubrovnik has been a hot spot for tourists for many years, but has recently risen to the top due to a certain HBO series being filmed there. (...Game of Thrones!!!) The fishing port of Rovinj sits on the Istrian Pennisula and is a popular
destination for couples. One of the most visited areas in Croatia is Plitvice Lakes National Park, known for it's amazing scenery, including waterfalls and crystal clear turquoise water, and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register more than 40 years ago. Fall is the perfect time to visit, as the weather is still warm and the summer crowds have thinned!
Cape Cod, MA
Cape Cod in the Fall? What...I thought that was a Summer destination? If you're ok with the water being too chilly to swim, then this is the PERFECT time to go! Known as a top weekend getaway in New England, Cape Cod offers all the outdoor activities you can fit into a long weekend on the beach, and more. Plus, if you go in the Fall, the weather is great, the seafood is delicious, AND it's less expensive and less crowded. For some great local fare, try The Wicked Oyster or The Lobster Pot Restaurant (which has great views of the harbor and is family friendly!) Explore the National Seashore during the day, and later, if your feet are tired from all that beach combing, take in a movie at The Wellfleet Drive-In. If this all sounds like the perfect Fall Break getaway, get in touch with your personal trip planner-she will be more than happy to help you from start to finish ;)
New Orleans, LA
If you know me at all, you know that this is probably my FAVORITE place to visit. Hands. Down. I'm actually going very soon to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary (Don't worry...I'll have an ENTIRE blog dedicated to it when I return!) For those of you thinking you'd never take children to New Orleans...TAKE THEM. It is a totally family friendly city, and you can even take them down Burbon St....during the day :) You can drive, fly, or even travel by train to get there. Fall is the perfect time to go, again because it's cooler and less expensive. Everyone needs to visit this vibrant, quirky city at least once in their lifetime! More to come...
